Brit Milah & Baby Naming

And God said unto Abraham: 'And as for thee, thou shalt keep My covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations. ~ Genesis 17:9

The ceremony of Brit Milah is the circumcision of Jewish males on their eighth day of life to establish and remember the covenant that God has with the Jewish people.

It is a tradition at Or Hadash for the parents of a Jewish baby boy or girl to receive an aliyah to the Torah at a Shabbat morning service. The baby is then publicly introduced to our community by announcing his or her Hebrew name.
