Or Hadash Teen Leaders

We offer a variety of engagement opportunities for our teens. Students in grades eight through twelve are invited to join our madrichim program and become teacher aids in Machon Hadash. Students in grades nine through twelve are invited to work as madrichim (teacher assistants) during our High Holiday youth programs. Both opportunities offer leadership training that set our teens apart from all the rest. Through these experiences, our teens gain invaluable leadership skills.

Machon Hadash Madrichim Program

Do you want to gain valuable leadership skills? Are you interested in working with children? Then the Machon Hadash madrichim program is for you.

By becoming a madrich/a, you will serve as a teacher's assistant in one of our classrooms on Shabbat mornings or Wednesday afternoons, helping the teacher with daily activities, leading small groups, taking attendance, helping with art projects, working with students who need some extra attention, and most importantly, serving as a Jewish role model for our kids!

High Holiday Madrichim Program

Our high holiday youth programming offers children ages four to thirteen the opportunity to experience the hagim (holidays) in a meaningful and age-appropriate manner. We ask our students in grades eleven and twelve to assist in leading our High Holiday youth programming. These high schoolers will participate in training so that they can offer our younger children special and unique hag (holiday) programming. Our young leaders find this work to be extremely significant and important to their role within the Or Hadash community.

Teen Programming

Throughout the school year, we offer many programs for teens. These programs focus on building community among our teens based on Jewish educational and social experiences.

Jews & Taboos (8th Graders)

We offer a special program for 8th graders that meets monthly on Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:00 pm. The program promotes continuing Jewish education. It also facilitates conversations on hot topics in Judaism while covering an array of subjects that some might consider taboo. Cost: $300.

Teens Taking Action Club (8th-12th Grade)

Teens Taking Action is a community service initiative run by teens for teens. Its mission is to bring Jewish youth together in order to help communities and people in need. By participating in this club, teenagers learn the importance of tikkun olam while having fun with friends.

Teens Taking Action was founded in August of 2018 by Amit Rau (The Weber School, 9th Grade) and Sophie Knapp (Dunwoody High School, 9th Grade).

Eitanim (8th, 9th & 10th Graders)

We are excited to partner with B'nai Torah, Congregation Beth Shalom and the Israeli American Council (IAC) for IAC's Eitanim program. IAC  Eitanim is a unique leadership and entrepreneurship project-based experience for high school students  that consists of bi-monthly sessions on Thursday evenings. The program allows students to connect, explore, and experience   Israel in a unique way
